I'm talking with JD Hoss on Truckee's 101.5 KTKE Independent Radio about Tahoe Life and mine on snow this season.

Sugar Bowl hosted The Backcountry Ball last night at the Village Lodge.  I dragged the kids up there to hang out and was impressed to see all the support for this new program.  The fresh snow from Friday got everyone excited for what's to come this season.  Great turn out for the dinner and silent auction.  They included a tour of the new facility and information of the program that raised money for the Sierra Avalanche Center.  The event was to launch the new Backcountry Adventure Center or "BAC".  Sugar Bowl has joined Alpine Skills International in offering snow safety classes, guided backcountry tours, wilderness/outdoor preparation, survival tips and rental packages for all you need to access the terrain out of the resort.  Sugar Bowl's terrain in bounds is mellow to very advanced.  Out of bounds there's tons more to explore.  The last two seasons I've been pushing my adventure skiing and exploring to new levels off the Lincoln and Judah lift.  Now skiing off the new Summit Chair will open up easier access to some of that terrain.  Some of the best skiing in Tahoe is at Sugar Bowl and now the out of bounds skiing will be offered to anyone with the skills and desire to ski Donner Lake Runs and terrain out towards Anderson Peak.  3 or 4 days after a storm you can still get cold untouched deep pow if you know where and when to go.

UNR's NCAA ski team has had their funding dramatically cut next to nothing. To keep the program that supports College athletics in the Far West region, they need your help.  Head coach Evan Weiss is a former USST team member and has the pressure of running a strong Top 10 NCAA team with limited funds.  The Wolf Pack Team contributes to the local ski sceen by fielding highly ranked athletes that improve the point system in the Far West and give young TAHOE kids idols to chase.
I donated my SPYDER jacket and pant I wore in the opening Tahoe segment from Warren Miller's flic "Dynasty" which played tonight at the Reno Event Center.

Thanks for the support!

So I went for a ride on the FXR with Chulo and Klutch from my house to downtown Truckee and stopped in at Bar of America.  It just started to snow on the way there.  A quick stop didn't help much.
Local photog Court Leve was walking the street and got this shot.  His comment:
"I'm glad my curiosity of 'what idiots would ride in a snowstorm' was answered so easily!"
Good laugh at the least.
Storm came in quick! Need a ride.
Mother Nature hit us hard and I was stuck looking for a ride.

TONY TABLE
Oakley put on their Nor Cal / Nevada ride day at Stead MX today.  This is Oakley's dealer appreciation event for the moto industry.  300 attended.  It was a huge turn out on the track from every age and rider level.  Pro FMXers Drake McElroy and Dustin Miller came out to put on a show.  I rolled down with Josh Hoyer the Oakley rep in Tahoe, his girl Ella and my boy Drey.  We had a blast and got to see friends twisting the throttle and the frenzy of guests making a tour through the Rolling O LAb and getting a custom set of goggles.  Good times! Drey can't get enough of it.

If anyone is up for the 6am news check out Channel 3 KCRA Sacramento, CA tomorrow Friday the 13th.  I'm on at 6:45am and again around 7:15am.  Pumping up the Warren Miller "Dynasty" show in Sac 11/13-14.  Winter is almost here so we might as well talk about it.

Michelle and I dragged the kids to SF on Friday for a road trip out of the mtns.  Hanging out with the likes of Tahoe locals Junior, Katja, Olive, RC, Annika, Roner, TJ, Hitcher, Chappy, Shields, Alex...We splurged on crab, shrimp, calamari, chowder, sourdough bread and some beverages to wash it down.  Hard to beat a SF experience on the water and eating killer seafood.  The real reason we made the trip was to hit up the SF Ski Fest at the Fort Mason Center.  I think it's an old military warehouse right on the water.  Porters, Lombardi Sports, Atomic, Sugar Bowl other ski brands, resorts and local wineries drew them by the thousands.  I heard a few dudes stoked on the best $20 deal in town for a wine buzz.  That entry fee covered it.  Wine tasting from over 40 vineyards and the best deals on gear and tickets to your favorite resorts.  I was at the Sugar Bowl booth signing posters.  Sugar Bowl deals included discounted season passes and tickets, plus a raffle to win a season pass.  Free Red Bulls, stickers and posters helped draw the people over to learn more about what's going on at the Bowl this year.  Two BackCountry educational sessions were hosted by ASI or Alpine Skills International. ASI and Sugar Bowl have partnered up for 2010 to provide guided tours, equipment and educational clinics if you have the need to explore what's outside the resorts boundaries.  One more reason to go slide Sugar Bowl this year.

My signing post empty on Sunday when I wasn't there.

Start practice officially started for me today on the 100th day to Vancouver. Sacramento's News Channel 3 Deirdre Fitzpatrick took over a starters roll and dropped the gate.  (For some reason I'm not able to load the video here so take a look: http://twitter.com/drahlves )

It kicks off in (Walnut Creek) the town I was born in today and tomorrow 11/3-11/4.
Here are a few pics from some of my film runs last season in Tahoe.  The segment is the opener to the movie.  Enjoy!
