Palm gets a win after 9 years in the boardercross at the 48 Straight tour in Telluride, CO. Before the comp today I saw this wild look in his eyes. He was ready to lay it down and in the final that's just what he did. He took control out of the start and nailed it for the win. Wescott was 2nd, Watanabe 3rd and Nate Holland from Truckee was 4th.

Race Day!! Woke up to another perfect day here in Telluride with sunny and crisp winter conditions. I came out the last hour of practice to wait for the track to get skied in. Can't lie, I was feeling a bit worked from skiing so much Thurs and Friday. I was under the gun to get up to speed. I only had two days of skiing with my cast off at Sugar Bowl before I came out to Telluride. Anyway, got to the top and worked on 6 starts with the gate up (race senario) head to head with Fiala. Both of us are not at the same level as a lot of the other guys out of the blocks. We needed all the help we could get. I felt warmed up and with a bit more confidence on how I was going to yank out of the gate today. Then took one high speed look at the track to the finish. The heats started and the intensity ramped up in each one. Round one I pulled the holeshot and finished up front. 2nd round I had my work cut out sitting in 3rd after the top flats and put on the charge. I made a pass on Robin Lenel a french kid after the first double double into the right footed turn. There was a little contact, but as clean as I could manage. That's the exciting part of Ski cross. Putting on a pass is always just squeeking by. Then it was a drag race trying to reel in Gavaggio, but I had nothing for him and finished 2nd. Semis I was in a stacked heat with Gavaggio, Puckett and a kid Cam Culbert from Canada. I took a chance and picked gate 2. Unfortunately Gavaggio and Puckett lined up on either side. Same situtation as XGames last year and same out come. They both crushed me out of the gate and I had to pull up, but then made a good move to slip in behind Gavaggio down the top straight. I worked the rollers and using a NASCAR like draft I had the speed to overtake Gavaggio and held on for the win in the semis. Snowmobile ride to the top handed over the boards to Bacca and he put on another layer of sauce. I had my old start coach from the USST, Pablo, to back me up and to fill in for Bacca since Krauss was in the Final as well. Bacca works for both of us. I lined up in gate one. Lewen, Krauss and Gavaggio to my left. I had a decent start, for me and was able to pull up to Lewen who's a gnarly pit bull out of the gate. I used him down the top straight and pumped the terrain as much as possible to milk everything out of it. I was on Lewen's tail and went for a pass out of the first double double. He shut me down and I pitched my skis to avoid a big hit. I prayed I didn't kill too much speed and hand over an easy pass to Krauss and Gavaggio so I let it run out wide. Then the charge was on again. I got back on Lewen and landed off the step up straddling him. Landing with a wide stance so I didn't make contact with his tails and avoided a close one. Pulled that off and then it was two more turns and off the finish jump. We all came across the line in a tight pack and this is the order...1st Lars Lewen, 2nd me, 3rd Tomas Krauss and 4th Gavaggio. Finally got the monkey off my back and made it to the finish line on my feet. Now it's time to let loose and take advantage of our red carpet athlete treatment, check out some music and have a few Red Bulls tonight. Another accomplishment is I'm bringing back the killer hand made iron trophy from my bros at, The Mountain Forge back in Truckee. Yeah boys, it's not the big one, but close. For the real action, Check it out on CBS Dec 29th 5pm...

Today was the kick off to our event here in Telluride. All the top dogs, euros and Americans in skicross lined it up for one solo timed tun for seeding in the heats for Saturday. 42 guys in all to qualify for 32 spots. The course was built by Corley Howard and BJ from Lake Tahoe. Shaun Palmer came out to help with the build and to compete in ski and boardercross. (Palm qualified for the skicross today.) They did a good job with the amount of snow they had to work with and making it friendly for all competitors. At this event men and women in skicross and boardercross are competing. The track layout has some good features like the two 4packs into fall away turns, rollers, and a step up gap. The start will be critical like in every skicross event, but there is room to jockey for position before it gets stacked up in the turns. This is how it palyed out. My new ski tech Curtis Bacca from The Wax Room got my Atomic Supercross skis rolling and put me on top with a time of 47.61secs. 2nd was Errol Kerr, USA - 3rd Lars Lewin, SWE - 4th Jake Fiala, USA - 5thCasey Puckett, USA - 6th Tomas Kraus, CZE - 7th Stan Hayer, CAN - 8th Hiroomi Takizawa JPN- 9th Enak Gavaggio, FRA - 10th Chris Del Bosco, CAN

I flew into Telluride, CO yesterday for the 48 Straight Tour. (The Ski Tour and Jeep King of the Mountain or JKOM merged to become "48 Straight".) This place is a good old western mountian town nestled in some of the most rugged terrain I've ever seen. The Ski Tour brings a quality event together for skiers and snowboarders plus a musical hit list line up from Swollen Members, Ivan Neville's Dumpstaphunk, Blackalicious and local style bands (10 in all) blended with the JKOM's sponsors and prime sports time coverage on CBS. This stop will be aired Dec 29th at 5pm on CBS. It is the premiere show on snow. Be sure to check it out or if you're in the area come by Saturday for the ski finals and Sunday for the snowboarders.

www.vholdr.comSugar Bowl got 30inches last night, 12/6/07. I woke up to over a foot at my house and enjoyed breaking out the shovel to clean the front steps. Chevy and Streif were going nuts getting doggie face shots. I rallied up to the Bowl and took a few runs testing out this new helmet camera from Twenty20, the VHoldR. No wires attached and at under 5 ozs I couldn't even tell I had something stuck to my Red Bull / Giro helmet. I posted a shot of the camera mounted to my helmet in the photo gallery. Soon I'll have some p.o.v. footage of skiing at Sugar Bowl Resort rocking this new trick way of capturing the moment. "Did you get it?" With this, "OH Yeah!" Check out videos this winter of me using the VHoldR in ski cross, running gates and shredding the hills. www.vholdr.com
