We've got the home framed and shear wall is up all around.  Exterior wall inspection will happen today.  The entry way is coming together and looks good with the big 10x12 timbers.
Big windows all around.

From the street

My long time friend and jet ski competitor Robby Myer brought it all back in one article.  Wow those were good days in the early 90's.  What an awakening!  I haven't thought about those summers in a long time.  If you think jet skiing is lame like my wife does who grew up surfing, read this anyway.  Robby writes like the stand up PRO he was on the IJSBA Tour.  On the gas and with style!

teenage days...

Wednesday morning rally for a session on Boca.  While launching the boat we laughed at the fact we were going for a pull this chilly morning.  The lake was creating a ton of fog due to the warm water and cold air.  We waited it out for a few minutes and the sun burned it off, but didn't help as much as we thought.  Kyle was first up and you could tell he felt the nip in the air.  Eyes freezing over and brain freeze kept his hands all over his face trying to warm up.  Don't think it worked since he dropped the handle after banging off a short up and back pass.  It's still one of the best ways to start the day in the summer.

Moody's Barn Dinner

Moody's Bistro and Lounge in Truckee, CA has a unique relationship with local organic growers to provide the freshest in season food available.  Not only do they bring it to the table every meal of every day at the restaurant, but they put on a few dinners during the summer at a farm they buy from.  I went with Michelle and friends to experience the "Barn Dinner" at Sierra Valley Farms in Beckworth, CA north of Truckee.

It's an old farm that dates back to the early 1900's and grows 100% organic produce  in the beautiful Sierra Valley.  Gary and Kim who own the farm partnered with Moody's head chef Mark Estyee to give an incredible eating experience off the land.  It's a celebration of eating the freshest ingredients provided by grower, prepared by chef to the taste buds of lucky ones like us.  If you enjoy eating family style amongst 50 other people sitting outside in god's country in a relaxed country style environment this is a must do.

Yep, plenty of meat, but also served Tombo fish, summer salad, cold gazpachio soup, all kinds of veggies and desert.  It was incredible!!!  I could hardly stand up after double soup and meat plus three servings of salad.  I'll be back.

I've been to a few Pennywise shows and they (punk) rock!  Seabass is my hook up to hang on stage and watch Fletcher, Byron, Randy and Jimmy throw down and get the crowd pumping.  On stage is my favorite place to watch for a couple reasons.  One you definitely feel cool hanging with the band.  Two, you get to see first hand how good they are and the passion they have for their music.  Three if you're on the floor you get sucked into the rowdy mosh pit and need to look out for the crazy ones doing the monkey knuckle dragging dance they call "picking up change".  Elbows fly so beware.  It's intense and that's how every show is.  I did get the urge at a Reno show to stage dive and take part in the fun on the floor.  It was the night before my wedding and Fletcher gave me and Michelle a shout out.  That was all it took and guess my time to join the chaos. I took three strides and just as I was about to leap off a speaker Fletcher moved into my line and clipped me.  It sent my flying and off balance.  I used everything I had to land in the pit and not come up short on the security fence.  I made it and was in there for two songs and held my own before escaping for higher ground back on stage.  Eventhough the long time voice of Pennywise has moved on, I have a feeling they will be playing better than ever in the years to come.
For those of you who like snow this is a good video
Pennywise songs were used on my Red Bull promo video back in 2004.
Here's the 8/21 press release off their site.

Atomic USA's marketing director Jordan Judd breaks it down for you on the 2009-2010 free skis.  Hit this Buyer's Guide link on Powder Mag.com.  It gives you the techy info on our new line.  I skied the Atlas 192 most of last season and was very impressed.  It exceeded my expectations at how well a powder ski can feel and perform.  It's very loose and floats so good in pow, forgiving in variable snow like wind blown chalk and still arcs on the groomers at the resort.  It floats like a butterfly and stings like a bee.  Quick slashes, long fast turns, high speed airs and straightlines are easier than ever.  The widest point on the ski is down from the tip and that allows it to break sideways when you want and makes it ski easier than any ski in the 190 range and up that I've ever been on.  The Atlas 182 will be a great ski for lighter skiers, strong women skiers and for those who want to get into tight lines or AK spines.  Step onto a pair of Atomic Atlas boards and skiing pow will be easier than ever!  My Atlas skis gave me the win at the Silver Belt Banzai 2009 and were on my feet every powder day from the middle of February '09 when I got my first pair.  Look for them in action in Warren Miller's "Dynasty" and Matchstick's "In Deep" ski films showing at a theater near you.  These guys in Haines, AK loved em too.

Last weekend the Pro Wakeboard/Wakeskate tour had it's final stop in Sparks/Reno, NV.  Red Bull had 4 athletes Brian Grubb, JD Webb, Adam Errington and Aussi Mitch competing at the event and in typical team fashion they killed it.  Westcoast Sports Marketing Manager set up the boys with a few days to chill and ride in Truckee.  Red Bull had their infamous driver Mario drag up their mx hauler towing an 18' trailer with 10 Honda bikes ready to go.  The rig was set up just down the road from my house next to Prosser Resevoir.  12 bikes in all made for some thick dirt stashes in the dry and dusty conditions Tahoe delivers this time of year.  The Florida boys had a bit of a struggle on some of the technical trails, but made it back to the rig still walking minus Mitch's "jello legs".  From the trails to the local hard pack track we had a great time twisting the throttle.  Tunes pumping from the rig and the standout visual sceen drew attention and we had a few visitors from the Sheriff and US Forrest Service checking in.  They wanted to know what the event was and were surprised to hear that it was just a day relaxing for all of us.  Cold Red Bull's sent them away happy and wishing us a good time. Dinner and a few drinks downtown capped it off and I slipped out of the T-Club before it got too damaging the next morning.  This has to be one of the best things about Red Bull. The way they bring athletes together from different sports is very cool.  I was stoked to meet these guys and show them around my home town.

CRAKING NUTS AND SHREDDING POW

Atomic USA/Austria rounded up team athletes Chris Benchetler, Eva Patscheider, Bene Mayr and me for a trip down to the sheep covered South Island of New Zealand.  It was time for the 2010-2011 product shoot.  October of every year is when Atomic finishes their catalog and presents the new line up to the Southern hemisphere and later to North America in January.  Our rider meeting with R&D last season at WinterX on the direction of the brand for performance and image was successful.  Hot looking graphics, a few new boards, a cool tweak to the Nuke boot and a new addition of a high performance backcountry boot filled our two trucks.  We got all the shots done in six days thanks to good conditions and decent weather.  The bonus was that Michelle joined me on the trip and she was stoked on the girls skis shredding pow and off piste.  That was our first trip together since the kids were born.

Kiwi's are a tough breed and our first day on the hill showed me why.  Ian Bright the Kiwi distributor for Atomic gave us a quick run down of the lifts we were going to see at the Club Fields and we got a good laugh just from their name.  "Nut Crackers" They have tractors running in the lift shack turning wheels that run a rope tow.  But not your usual tow.  These took some concentration and a few tries getting the hang of it.  A belt with a rope tied off to the metal nut cracker device clamps down on the fast moving rope.  Grabbing the rope and clamping down is how you attach yourself, but not  loosing fingers as the rope buzzes over the wheels was my first concern.  To make it more of a challenge we were hit by the roaring 40's which are gale force winds that give you a proper blasting.  I got a good taste of it when I was literally blown off my feet and sent tumbling down the hill.  Later in the day at Craigieburn the winds died down and we finally scored some chutes and bowls with boot top pow.  The next day we went over to Broken River and scored a perfect day and another adventure.  It's adventure skiing at the club fields north of Christchurch.  Just getting to the ski fields is a journey, but that's what makes it so fun.  They're cool little areas with awesome terrain and good people.  Well, most of them at least but hard to hold a grudge.  We had a few skiers basically give us the middle finger when they were asked to hold off on a line we were setting up to shoot as soon as some clouds passed by.  Hard to blame them, guess there is no first dibs rule in NZ.  If you wait too long it's gone.  Ski acting sucks!  After nailing two days at the clubbies we drove the west coast to Wanaka  On the way we saw some good surf and gave our word that we would be back to get some waves.  A few days of skiing at Cardrona ski resort we wrapped up our shot list.  So the next morning Martin, our Austrian team manager, Chris, Michelle and I took off for the west coast.  Jossi and Byron Wells hooked us up with boards.  We found waves at Castle Rock.  The water was 10C and I felt every bit of the snow capped mountains in the background.  Super cold, but had a good time riding a few icy ones.  That was a great way to wrap it up in NZ.

New Zealand is having a great winter and everyone knows about it.  I was impressed to see that the Racer's Edge ski shop in Wanaka has almost sold out on their stock of skis and boots and the resorts around Wanaka were slammed.

Oh and the best food we had was this feast of Elephant fish and chips bru!  Not only is Elephant fish tasty, it fed eight of us for $37NZD or 25 bucks.

Our photographer Dan here is ready to dig in!
