After my morning beach spanking I raced home to get on the phone with Olympic Gold medal bumper Jonny Moseley. I was a guest on Jonny's Sirius radio show, the Moseley Method. A nice platform to promote the Warren Miller ski flic "Children of Winter" film tour. Especially since Jonny narrates the movie and added some flare to my Austria Segment. (view dates, info etc at www.warrenmiller.com ) Essentially, Jonny and I rapped about what I've been doing, what's coming up this season, threw in some ski stories and picked out songs by Anti Flag, Pennywise, Metallica, Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Sirius channel 28. Here's a link to the shows website.

The show will air next Wednesday, October 1 at 4 p.m. PST/7 p.m. EST

Today I met Steven Elbogen the inventor of the FLOW BAR. This guy is tough as nails and can do pull ups like the rest of us walk up stairs. 50 at a time is the norm. He's done 75 without stopping. He enters Navy Seal competitions and shows them all what being well conditioned means. Use what he invented, spend 20 mins a session every day and you'll get in the best shape of your life. I'm convinced. We talked about the benefits of the Flow Bar for kids, adults, moms, grandparents...everyone. If it can kick Steve's ass it's no joke. He took me through his outdoor routine on the sands of Ocean Beach. This is his Beach Ghetto Workout. Running in the sand, pull ups and dips on the life gaurd tower, run to the grass then sprint 100 yrds, drop into push ups, run back to the sand, pull ups and dips....you get it. This was repeated 5 times. He was easy on me he said with a chuckle. I managed to crack a smile while I was sucking wind and my arms felt like anchors dragging in the sand. Difficult days go 10 rounds. I was spanked. The goal is quick transitions from one to the next and never sit still. Recovery is done on the slow pace run in the sand and alternating push and pull movements. After our session he had a client that was in his office/gym The Fitness Network. She was a mom, 2 months out from child birth going through the work out at her own level. That's the greatest advantage. This perfect work out tool has no limits. This same method is used inside with the Flow Bar. Reps of 20 pull ups, dips and push ups. Keep moving and you get an incredible endurance strength work out. Check out my Flow Bar page for a look at what I do and get one. here's the link to the beach ghetto workout: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmNYFRtys30

The Massive...Red Bull backed skier Tanner Hall and friends skied line after line of tits deep pow, pillow lines, big mtn and back country airs. Oh yeah and there was some jibbin going on, but the skiing stuff ruled over. One spine/pillow line in Haines, AK stands out as the run of the movie. That line was super unique and visually exciting. Those guys found a gem. This flic is a must see and will get you praying for an early winter. I'd actually recommend not watching it until Dec. Why torture yourself this many days away from ski season. Click on my sponsors page and double click on the Red Bull logo. That will take you to www.redbullskiing.com for photos of the night. I forgot my camera, but Red Bull's Jamey Voss did a nice job documenting the night.

Portillo, Chile has been my summer training venue for years on the USST because of the excellent snow, long runs and great terrain. There is no better DH track in the world to train on in our summer months. I've skied Portillo 8 times and experienced everything from huge storms, rock hard winter snow to perfect spring days. GS, SG and DH training, testing all those skis and boots and hours in the gym. Back in those days I got lucky to get some free skiing in, but kept it minimal to save energy for training and testing. Don't call me lazy. You sleep at over 9,000 ft and at that altitude it's tough on the body. Ahh...the life of a free skier is still demanding, but when the racers were out on the hill warming up for their training day we enjoyed a big breakfast in the main dinning room. To eat breakfast in there was a luxury only on days off for us racers. This time I had that laid back start of the day, every day. We didn't get off that easy though. We were still under Jordan's rule and on a mission during this 5 day trip. We lucked out with weather and skied in a mix of conditions to test out the new boots and boards. It was a perfect mix for getting a good feel on all the skis. Chalky winter snow, spring corn, wind buffed and a few inches of pow the last day was the perfect send off. I joined Chris Benchetler and Sven Kueenle to test Atomic's 2009 free ski line (skis: Atlas, Coax, Blog, Bent Chetler, Nomad, GS 12's and boot: Nuke 1 Thirty) to get shots for the catalog and website. Jordan Judd our Atomic TM and Adam Clark our photog rounded out the 5 man crew. Besides posing for the camera. We hiked and sweat earning our two plate dinners followed by desert. We hacked at bump and fuseball. We did one finger pull ups. We partied at La Posada with the locals. We watched Condors soar. We skied in my new SX skis. We hung with my former Austrian Atomic ski tech Tom and boot tech Gerhard. We tried to look good on the hill and off and I have to say...We Crushed It!

My former USST team mate Chad Fleischer is on a mission to Kenya, Africa to help build an orphanage and a Community Home, October (13-24th). Please read below and take a look at the web site. The dedication of generous athletes in the snow community are spearheading this effort.
Here's the email he sent me.
The web site is now officially launched. AlpineInitiatives.org is the name of our charity and it has been put together by volunteers of the skiing and snowboarding community who have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of those less fortunate in the world. Please see our site for information and to donate. Your funds are going directly to this project! We do not pay ourselves, we have bought our own plane tickets and are going over to Kenya to build this with our own bare hands. Please help us in our efforts by donating to this great cause and forwarding this email to everyone else you know so together we can and will change the world one project at a time. You can also follow our progress on the Amani Community Home and see us hard at work on our web site under the blog section. Thank you and talk to you soon.
